Somatic Experiencing®
Therapy in Fresno

Sometimes your mind knows you are safe, but your body continues to brace, shut down or prepare for something to go wrong.

Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented approach to trauma therapy. Rather than relying only on talking or analyzing, we gently notice physical sensations, emotions, impulses, and protective responses.

Sessions are collaborative and individualized. You do not need to remember every detail of your past-or retell everything that happened-  to begin.

I offer EMDR therapy in Fresno for adults navigating trauma, including complex and childhood trauma, with telehealth available throughout California.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and integrate distressing experiences.

During EMDR, we use bilateral stimulation-such as a light bar, gentle taps, or pulsars-while you briefly bring to mind difficult memories, beliefs, or current triggers. Many people find that over time, the emotional charge lessens and they can recall what happened with more perspective.

EMDR can be used on its own or alongside Somatic Experiencing®, depending on your goals and needs.

This Work May Help If..

These are just a few examples. You may simply sense that something isn't working, even if you can't explain it yet.

You have goals or changes you want to make, but keep repeating the same patterns.

You don't feel safe-even when you logically know that you are.

You feel frozen or unable to move forward.

You often feel on edge, guarded, or braced for something to go wrong.

Your reactions feel bigger than the situation logically seems to call for.

Something happened years ago, but your body responds as if it were yesterday.

Conversation

Conversation is always welcome. We can begin with what you are  bringing, what feels difficult, or what you want to understand.

What Sessions Can Look Like

Listening To Your Nervous System

We notice what is showing up in your body, emotions, and patterns-and gently explore what no longer is working.

EMDR

When appropriate, EMDR can help process difficult experiences and support your nervous system in responding differently.

Optional Table-Based Support

Rest fully clothed on the table while gentle, supportive touch is offered, with your consent, to support nervous system regulation. We check in throughout, and you can pause or stop at any time.

Your pace, comfort, and consent guide the work. Sessions are always collaborative.

Somatic Therapy and EMDR for Trauma in Fresno, CA

You may know exactly what happened— or you may only sense that something isn't right. Your body might stay tense, anxious, shut down, or on alert even when you're trying to move forward.

I help adults understand and work with these patterns through Somatic Experiencing® and EMDR.
